WHO ARE WE?
OUR PHILOSOPHY
WOODWORKING DONE THE RIGHT WAY
For nearly 20+ years, Farrell’s Custom Woodworking has provided wood products that stand the test of time. We are proud to supply custom woodworking and repurposed wood right from our shop in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in the heart of Amish country. But our focus is not just supplying quality wood or fine custom woodwork; it is also building an education around the process by working closely with every customer. Whether you are a hobbyist, homeowner, designer, or a small business we are here to help shape and guide your vision from start to finish.
A NEW PURPOSE
RECLAIMED & RESCUED
Our primary commitment is to honor the legacy of our ancestors' craftsmanship by repurposing their wooden structures. We see potential and purpose in every piece of wood, and we believe that sustainability is essential. That’s why we reclaim wood from old barns, fences, and similar sites, as well as what we call "rescued" wood—materials that might otherwise be destined for mulch, pallets, or simply burned.
Every reclaimed piece carries a unique story, preserving up to five centuries of history in its rich, dense grain and distinctive patina that newer wood just can’t match.

FOUNDER
MEET DAVE
Dave Farrell, the founder of Farrell's Custom Woodworking, began his journey as a farmer, and later transitioned into the construction trades. After years of working in unions for various companies, he witnessed firsthand how a lack of oversight could lead to project delays and dissatisfied customers. Determined to make a difference, Dave launched his own business in 2008 with a commitment to "do things the right way."
To deepen his passion for woodworking, Dave studied under renowned cabinet makers and educators, including Frank Klausz, Blaine Barry, and Kelly Mehler. Reflecting his philosophy, Dave shares, "Our goal for the future is to teach others how to do it right." Farrell's Custom Woodworking continues to create and share custom projects, passing on their craftsmanship and dedication to future generations.

SUSTAINABLE • DURABLE • NATURAL • ROT RESISTANT
BLACK LOCUST LUMBER
We paved our way to success by reviving history with our end-grain pavers crafted from Black Locust wood for roads and streets. Today, landmarks like Camac Street in Philadelphia, Wooden Alley in Chicago, and several sites in Cleveland, Ohio, proudly display these pavers as living testaments to our past. Our craftsmanship is evident in every detail — we sourced and meticulously processed over 30,000 pavers, with each piece carefully selected and cut to precision. Every project enriches our expertise, and now we proudly offer our reclaimed Black Locust lumber as an exceptional option for your next outdoor deck, patio or porch decking.
Beyond the narrative, it's worth noting that these reclaimed materials not only tell a unique story but also embody a commitment to sustainability — a value increasingly recognized by modern designers and planners. This nuanced blend of heritage and eco-consciousness can transform any outdoor project into a space that resonates with both beauty and environmental responsibility.
